CBT thought record simulation with Rahim and Leah
Demonstration · The Love Doctor with Dr. Leah Tidey · May 2021 · 1 hr 26 min
Thought records are one of the core skills taught in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). They help you notice the automatic thoughts that shape your feelings and behaviour, and restructure them so emotion is less overwhelming. You don't have to believe every thought you have.
In this simulated session, Dr. Leah Tidey plays a client in sex therapy who is struggling to ask a partner for what she wants sexually. Together, she and Rahim identify the automatic thoughts and core beliefs involved, such as fears about incompatibility and power, and the shame and anxiety attached to them. They then weigh the evidence and build more balanced alternative thoughts that support clearer, more confident communication about pleasure.
