The CBT Dive

Therapy skills, tried out on real problems. In each episode, a guest brings a situation they're stuck on and we work through it with the most common tool in cognitive behavioural therapy: the thought record.

About the show

Rahim Thawer, host of The CBT Dive, smiling in a white button-down shirt

The CBT Dive ran from 2021 to 2024. In a full episode, a guest describes a moment that keeps bothering them. We slow it down together: what happened, what they felt, the thought that showed up, and what the evidence says about that thought. Then we work toward a more balanced alternative. You get to see a thought record done out loud, not just filled in on a worksheet.

The shorter CBT Shorts episodes take on one situation in a few minutes, from being ghosted to body image and dating apps. Later episodes widen the lens with guest practitioners, including a conversation on somatic therapy.

New episodes are no longer being made, but the full archive stays free. The Instagram account is still active, with regular posts on CBT skills.

Who it's for

People who've heard of CBT and want to see what it looks like in practice. Clinicians and students learning to run a thought record with a client. Anyone who recognizes something of themselves in a guest's story and wants a more structured way to think it through.

A note on scope

The episodes are educational. They show a skill in action; they aren't therapy, and a guest's situation won't map neatly onto yours. If you'd like support with something similar, find a queer and trans-affirming therapist in Canada.
