Canada's Queer & Trans Therapists

Find a therapist who shares your lived experience

CQTT lists queer and trans therapists across Canada. Search by what you need, read the whole profile, and email the therapist yourself. Nobody sits in between, and it costs you nothing.

For people looking for care

How it works

Search

Filter by what you need, where you are, how you want to meet, and the identities and communities that matter to you.

Read a profile

Every profile shows fees, sliding scale, availability, languages, credentials and how the therapist works. You know all of it before you reach out.

Contact directly

Your message goes straight to the therapist's own inbox. No account to make, no intake form, no middle-person.

What it costs you

Nothing, and that isn't going to change

Searching CQTT is free. You don't sign up, you don't answer screening questions, and you don't get handed to anyone. When you find someone who looks right, you write to them and they write back to you.

Therapists list the provinces they're able to practise in, so you can tell straight away whether someone can actually see you. Many offer sessions online as well as in person.

CQTT is a listing directory, not a referral service. Therapists write their own profiles and state their own credentials and fees. Confirming that someone is registered with their regulatory college, and working out whether they're the right fit for you, is still yours to do. A first conversation is a reasonable place to do it.

For therapists

Are you a queer or trans therapist?

CQTT exists so that our communities can find us on purpose rather than by luck. A listing puts you in front of people who are specifically looking for a therapist with your lived experience, at the moment they're looking.

Before you start

What the form will ask you for

The profile form takes twenty to thirty minutes if your details are to hand. You can save and come back. Your profile is tied to your email address and you log in with an emailed code, so there's no password to lose.

  • A headshotJPEG or PNG, up to 5 MB. A phone photo is fine. It doubles as the preview image when your short link is shared, so leave a little space around your face.
  • Your registration detailsGoverning body and credential, or the name of your professional association if you're unregulated.
  • Two descriptionsA one-line tagline for the directory cards, and a longer bio for your profile page.
  • Your feesA standard rate for each service you offer, and your lowest sliding-scale rate if you have one.
  • LinksYour website and up to two social accounts, if you want them shown.
  • A cardFor the subscription. Nothing is charged until the fourteen days are up.

Every identity question is optional. They're there so clients can find therapists whose lived experience lines up with what they're looking for, and each category separately asks whether you want it shown publicly. Fill in only what you're comfortable having on a public profile.

The Toronto mailing list

Separately from CQTT, there's a Google group for private-practice therapists in the Greater Toronto Area who identify with the 2SLGBTQ+ community. It's a mailing list, not a directory, and it's free. To be added, email the moderators at tqtt+subscribe@googlegroups.com.
